Miami Heat Scouting the Enemy: Toronto Raptors
More Spicy P
He was a huge part of the reason why they managed to win the championship. He had 11 games where he scored over 20 points. But again wait, there’s more!
He is no slacker on defense either. Amongst power forwards, he was ranked third in DPIPM behind only Draymond Green and Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is a long and versatile defender that is very capable of defending multiple positions.
So, where do the Raptors go from here?
Well, they do have a respectable core and they seem like they are going to be a defensive powerhouse. As far as the offense goes, they will need Lowry and Siakam to step up their games to a higher level. Is that even possible though?
We know what Lowry is capable of and what he brings to the table, which is why the answer lies with one Spicy P. Because he won MIP while sharing the load with a ball-dominant Leonard, it is reasonable to assume and say that he can improve again this year.
Similar to the Celtics, they don’t seem like a team capable of making it deep into the playoffs, but it can be a very different story once the regular season starts. The Raptors are very much capable of beating the Miami Heat for the higher seed, while taking control of home-court advantage between the two. We will just have to see how Lowry and Siakam perform to open the season, because as their offense goes, so does this team’s chances.
