He doesn’t ever have to worry about being the only hard worker or guy that “wants it” on the team

As previously mentioned, one of the biggest gripes that Butler seemed to have about his time in Minnesota was the work ethics of his teammates. He believed that certain players didn’t work as hard as he did or as they should have.

He has said that Timberwolves swingman Andrew Wiggins has more talent than a lot of players in the league, but doesn’t work hard enough to go from just a talented player to an NBA superstar. That is something that he won’t have to worry about in Miami.

Not only will he not be the only guy that’s working hard or that “wants it” on the team, but he may not be the hardest working guy on this team. While he will be near the top, if not tied at the top of the list for being the hardest worker on this team, he won’t be alone and everyone behind him won’t be that far behind.

To some, his issues with Minnesota may be a strange phenomenon to understand. This confusion is based on the fact that he became who he is in the NBA under head coach Tom Thibodeau, the coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves at the time and those players he took issue with.

It makes you wonder how Butler could become who he is under the guidance of that coach, but other guys become something completely different. It is a very unfortunate situation, But again, this lack of belief in those around him by Butler was also the fundamental reason why he ended up in Philadelphia.

Some would like to infer that he may have had a similar issue with Ben Simmons of the 76ers, based on Simmons’ lack of even a mid-range jump shot, his willingness to take them or work on them, and along with his seemingly tight-knit relationship with Joel Embiid. No matter what your take is there though, that is the third reason why he won’t grow to regret his decision, he won’t be the only one working hard in South Beach.
