On the Outs: Solomon Hill and Udonis Haslem

Among the six upcoming free agents, it’s most likely that the Miami Heat will be saying goodbye to veteran forward Solomon Hill. A piece of the deal that landed them Andre Iguodala, he suited up just six times for the team over in 14 available games.

Hill was one of the many role players who earned a lucrative deal after the cap spike of summer 2016. He signed a four-year deal for $48-million with the New Orleans Pelicans, making his $13-million salary a perfect piece to push Miami’s deal with Memphis to fruition.

In his six appearances with the Heat, Hill posted just 2.5 points and 1.7 rebounds nightly. He may have eventually seen more playing time come the playoffs based on experience alone, but was never targeted as a legitimate rotational piece for Miami.

Elsewhere, a storied career with the Heat may be coming to an end. Despite Udonis Haslem reportedly being unsure about a return next year; it’s hard to see this Miami team using a roster spot on the 39-year old veteran who’s played just 43 games over the last four seasons.

A three-time champion with the Heat, Haslem was active just three times this season. He posted 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in that span, recording just 21 minutes on the floor.

Haslem will very well likely see his jersey number in the rafters at American Airlines arena one day, but it seems his time suiting up in that same jersey has come to an end.
