Andre Iguodala finishing out the season strong will not only validate his new contract with the Miami Heat, but assure fans that Justise Winslow had to go.

Fans weren’t sure what to think when the Miami Heat pulled the trigger on a deal for Andre Iguodala. It cost the team fan favorite youth Justise Winslow, who despite his history of injuries, was a great talent on a team friendly contract.

Iguodala is 36 years old and coming off of months and months spent outside of basketball. Giving up a young talent like Winslow never sits well at first, and the veteran’s 14-game span with the Heat hasn’t been enough to quell cries for what could have been with the 2015 first-round pick.

It surely didn’t help when the team immediately offered and ultimately signed Iguodala to a two-year extension worth $30-million. As a member of the Heat he’s averaging 4.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game.

If Andre Iguodala is to prove his worth to this Miami Heat team moving forward as well as justify the sacrifice of Justise Winslow, a strong end to this year and postseason contribution could help.
