The Miami Heat’s need for an athletic big was really highlighted in their NBA Finals series. This guy might be the piece they are looking for.

Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond is an interesting player. Now, I don’t think Miami will get him in a trade because he has a high salary, $28 Million dollars, and it’s just something I can’t see Miami doing.

But if Cleveland doesn’t find a trade partner for him this off-season or if he isn’t traded by the next trade deadline, I could see Drummond being bought out and Miami being a fit for him. Miami looked kind of small in the finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, but getting a guy like Drummond on the team would be a nice pickup.

Drummond is an elite rebounder, a good shot blocker, and can also move his feet a little bit defensively, so getting switched onto guards wouldn’t be as bad as you would think. Drummond is just a big guy, in general, who can bang down there and keep Bam Adebayo around the perimeter.

Defensively, he and Adebayo would be fine but offensively would be where it would get really interesting. Spacing would be a concern but the Miami guards do a good job of helping Adebayo get to his spots for easy ones.

The one thing I will say about Drummond is this. Has he ever played with a good point guard? No, he hasn’t.

Miami should look at him if he is free. Hopefully, they buy him out of his contract.
