The Miami Heat reign supreme in the East until someone beats them for the crown, but with Philly’s hiring of the mad genius, how’s that impact Miami?

The Miami Heat may not be the Kings Of The NBA after their defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals, but they are the Beasts Of The East. Until another team knocks them off that pedestal, they are still the crème de la crème of the East.

With that in mind though, that doesn’t mean that teams are afraid of the Miami Heat, by no means. One team that seems to be gearing up, from a leadership and management perspective, to give the Heat a run for their money on all fronts are the Philadelphia 76ers.

By bringing in Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey, they have two of the NBA’s heavy hitters when it comes to names. First off though, for me, that is an oxymoron in itself.

Doc Rivers wants his teams to play lockdown and stifling defense, while Morey’s teams have traditionally sacrificed defense for offensive efficiency. That’s neither here nor there at the moment though, it was just worth a mention while we were broaching the topic.

In any scenario, this is the point of our chat today. What are the residual impacts for the Miami Heat that will come as a result of the Morey hiring in Philadelphia?

They may not seem imperative or come to you immediately, even, but they are there. Let’s get into it.
