The Miami Heat are all in on this season, according to most reports. That means going for it now and that also likely means doing whatever it takes to get another impact guy.

The Miami Heat have a really good roster. They have their star player, Jimmy Butler, locked up for the next three years, which includes this one.

They are on the cusp of giving Bam Adebayo a long-term extension to remain in Miami as well. If you take what Pat Riley says at face value, which you should, then we can be certain that Goran Dragic will be back as well.

The same goes for Jae Crowder, who although we haven’t heard addressed by Riley, played his way into Riley’s heart and basketball ledger if we know him like we think we do. That’s just it though.

We have a certain sense of security about all of these guys. If it isn’t beyond this season, it’s only because that’s the way that the organization wants it.

With a guy like Jrue Holiday and at this current juncture of his contract, they don’t really have any say so. That goes either way.

After this season, at a substantial amount of $23.5 million, he has a player option for next season. The Miami Heat have no say over his decision.

It is all up to him. Now, logic says he will opt into $26.2 million, but who knows.

Now, that’s only if the Miami Heat wants him to remain there, but having the option of deciding for yourself as a franchise is a valuable one.

Whether that be to keep him outright for whatever or even at a lower number, which I believe the desired option would be if possible, the right to decide on said security is something that I think the Miami Heat shouldn’t sacrifice.

If they didn’t want him beyond one season, that leads to the third reason why I wouldn’t trade for Holiday.
