The Miami Heat have immediate needs entering the draft, including at point guard and for another big. What if they choose to go in the complete opposite direction though?

Josh Green would be a great fit for the Miami Heat culture. He’s not the best guard in the draft, but he’s a transition scorer that can be complementary to both Herro and Robinson off the bench.

Let’s assume the starting lineup come opening night is Goran Dragic, Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder, Bam Adebayo, and say, Meyers Leonard. That would leave a rotation off the bench of the next man up to choose from Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Andre Iguodala, Kelly Olynyk, Kendrick Nunn, KZ Opkala, and Josh Green if drafted.

You could also throw guys like Solomon Hill and Derrick Jones Jr. into the mix as well, although they are free agents. You also want to try to account for the sporadic trade, but let’s not get that complex.

Green could be a solid addition that can help add depth to this young Heat team. Green is actually big for a shooting guard, which may turn out to be one of his biggest advantages in this league.

The average height for a modern NBA shooting guard is 6’3’’ to 6’6’’, so he would stand pretty tall above the rest. Standing at 6’6’’, he has the ability to run and gun with the other guards while providing a tall presence defensively.

He can double down against another quick backcourt. While he also has the physical size to be able to deal with wings or even stretch fours for spurts.
