The Miami Heat were among the last pair of teams to play a game in the NBA. With just over two months between time, is it too soon for that duo to return?

Miami Heat basketball is back baby! Well, at least in a few days, things will start to ramp up towards the beginning of the regular season.

With a tip-off date set for December 22nd, just in time for the Christmas Holiday, the two teams that played in the NBA Finals back in October must get their motors in gear a bit quicker than they’ve been accustomed to. That begs of a question though.

Is this turnaround, just over two months removed, too quick for the two Finals teams? Is it fair for the Miami Heat and the Lakers to be back so fast?

Well, the answer is yes. It is fair.

The Miami Heat and the Lakers seemingly just finished last season. So, is it fair for them to have to get back to it after only two months?

Here’s the thing. The teams that play in the NBA Finals in any normal year typically get around four months off.

With the Finals ending in June and things typically ramping back in October, you have one extended period of downtime between seasons. Well, before they came back to finish things in the Bubble last season, the league had almost four months of downtime in between play.

While the psychology of the whole break might be a little off, used to having that break before the big reset, they have still had just as much rest on their legs as they would in any other season. It’s just that this season, they had a four-month layoff, two months of play, and another two months.

It actually comes off as more downtime or rest period in a calendar year than they typically have. Look and to be quite frank, after the NBA Bubble and Finals that they had, the Miami Heat are probably chomping at the bit to get back.

It’s just how they are put together. Speaking of how teams are put together though, expect to hear the Lakers moan and complain if they get out to a slow start.

That’s just what some of the guys over there do. In case it wasn’t clear yet, it’s not only fair, but it was also the best way to do it.

We can’t wait!
