The Miami Heat also gave us our first post-Big 3 NBA Finals Run in the last year.

The Miami Heat were what we like to call “ahead of schedule” last season. While Jimmy Butler coming aboard and the development of the Miami Heat’s newer talent were things that accelerated the process as well, the Miami Heat never anticipated making a run last year.

2. An Early Post-Big 3 NBA Finals Run

This season was supposed to be the one where things really kicked into high gear for them. By all means, you aren’t ever not supposed to be there when you get there and you are never guaranteed to go back at any point, but we all have to admit that what they were able to do last year was pretty amazing to watch.

Yes, we want them to win it and just getting there isn’t good enough but again, let’s look at it for what it was. The Miami Heat had to retool a bit coming into this season but they have just as good a chance to do the very same thing they did last year in this season.

While they did lose a guy in Jae Crowder that hit a ton of big shots for them, I would argue that they got better. They added in a guy that can do what he does defensively, perhaps a little better in Maurice Harkless, while they also added another guy who can flat out shoot it as well as anyone else on our team in Max Strus, though only eligible to play 50 games.

They brought in Precious Achiuwa in the draft, while KZ Okpala has also shown us what he is capable of when given the minutes. Avery Bradley is also a key pickup for Miami, as he brings a certain defensive element that they didn’t have last season either.

As stated, I can make the case that they got better coming into this season but at worst, they are even. That will be enough to make another run this season but regardless, the one from last season was a gift in itself.
