The Miami Heat love players that are multiple. Kelly Olynyk certainly fits that bill.

The Miami Heat are a team that prides themselves on being pretty multiple. That goes for them as a team, for any given unit they put on the floor, then all the way down to each and every player on the roster.

Being multiple basically means that a player can do more than one thing. While Duncan Robinson is a shooter, he can get that done in multiple ways such as the spot up, off of actions, and/or screens, while he can also pass it a bit.

That’s just one example. Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler are others.

Either of those two could be confused with being the Miami Heat’s point guard and that’s because, at times, they are. The point of it all is this, I guess.

The more you can do on the floor, the more you can do to help the team win. While at the same time, that decreases the amount of compromising situations that the defense can put you in because your weaknesses aren’t as bountiful.

It’s a really interesting, yet simple concept. Kelly Olynyk is multiple.

As we mentioned, he’s seven feet tall, so there’s that in which he has going for him. While his size helps him a ton, as you can’t teach it, that isn’t even the best part of his game or what got and keeps him in the league.

KO can handle it, pass it, and has an array of pivots, step-throughs, and other wanky moves that he can go to in order to get the job done. He’s as versatile as they come for someone of his size and that’s the second reason why he might be the perfect guy for the starting lineup beside Bam Adebayo.

A part of that versatility is the last reason.
