Why Miami Heat Adversity Not The Worst Thing: Kendrick Nunn

The last set of reasons why this latest stretch of adversity might not be so bad for the Miami Heat is because is caused them to explore. By exploring or having to search for answers without their big guns, such as Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler, players had opportunities to emerge or re-emerge in some cases.

While we are here, let’s touch on that. It all started in Monday’s contest against the Detroit Pistons.

Kendrick Nunn came off the pine and had a really good game for Miami. If it wasn’t for his contributions on Monday, then the Miami Heat likely don’t win that game against Detroit.

Moving forward to Wednesday’s contest against Toronto, Kendrick Nunn must’ve still felt in the mood because he wasn’t only a part of the reason they beat Toronto, he was arguably the key cog in the whole thing.

He literally went off. He finished with 28 points, eight boards, and five dimes on 4/6 shooting from deep.

If everything had been going smoothly, then Kendrick Nunn may never get as big of an opportunity as he did in Detroit. That then relays to him never getting the opportunity he got against Toronto, so forth and so on, and the rest is history.

On top of K.Nunn though, others fall in this category as well. From finally deploying Moe Harkless as the defensive stopper he can be, to deploying some of the many younger shooters the Heat have at their disposal like Gabe Vincent or Max Strus, the Miami Heat’s adversity made it so that all of these guys had a chance to show their stuff.

These moments to get experience may come back to be huge in other moments throughout the year. We never know.

Any chance to get better is appreciated and especially when it helps your team take a step forward as a complete unit. Learning how to win more consistently when Jimmy Butler isn’t on the floor counts as that step.

While I wouldn’t say they are experts in the area, they are starting to get the hang of it and all of the above helps. That’s why this latest stretch of Miami Heat adversity might not be the worst thing after all.
