Miami Heat Glad To Be Home: Coach Erik Spoelstra

When speaking with Coach Erik Spoelstra on the state of the Miami Heat, it was a productive and optimistic outlook on things. However, that makes his sentiments on the Eastern Conference and where the Heat stand in it no less true than they actually are, because he hit it on the head.

"“I mean, it doesn’t surprise me to this point,” Spoelstra said. “Maybe if you asked me what it’d looked like at the beginning of December, maybe I would have thought it looked different.” “But that’s irrelevant. This is where we are right now. I mentioned it the other day, I see a lot of inconsistent teams in the East and we’re one of them.” The Heat open a four-game homestand Wednesday night against the Toronto Raptors with victories in seven of their last 10. “Anybody that can find some consistency and reliability quicker can find some separation in the standings,” Spoelstra said. “But right now, there is not separation. So what I see is opportunity.”"

Bingo! That’s it right there!

The team that can find consistent stretches of decent to good play will be the ones that eventually prevail. It isn’t that hard.

The Miami Heat aren’t that far out of anything, as we’ve stated in recent days, and they are set up to be consistent. They aren’t flashy, they aren’t over the top, they just believe in working hard.

That’s the easy thing to be consistent at, as all you really have to do is show up with an open mind and a willingness to work. The Miami Heat aren’t where they want to be, but it seems they are headed there, philosophically.

Literally and geographically though, they are right where they want to be. And that’s home and in their own beds, especially for Bam Adebayo.
