Miami Heat: 5 players you want on the court late in tight games
5 players Miami Heat want on court late: Andre Iguodala & Goran Dragic
The Miami Heat know where their bread is buttered. They win the old fashioned way.
The Miami Heat aren’t going to “wow” you all the time or flat out run you out of the gym with offensive eruptions. Though they can be downright combustible at times from deep, they get it done with their intangibles.
Whether it be playing defense, whether it be out-hustling you, or simply all of it, they want to grind you down and make you submit to their will.
Andre Iguodala
Andre Iguodala fits that mold. He has once again regained his corner three-ball touch, making 12 of his last 30 attempts across Miami’s last nine games.
He is still the defensive savant capable of wrecking offensive sequences and his hands are as quick as they have ever been. Did we mention that he could still steal the ball from you in a flash between gather and release, without the opposing player even knowing what’s going on?
Yea, he can still do that. Outside of all that though, his experience, knowledge, and veteran know-how make him a must-have for the Heat to close games.
Goran Dragic
Some people like to call Goran Dragic a one trick pony and though he truly isn’t, look a bit closer. If the pony’s one trick is as good as The Dragon’s is, then that’s ok.
While Goran is still a supreme playmaker and setup man for his rollers or lob-catch men, his superpower is his ability to put the rock in the hole. Throw out size, throw out athletic ability, and just take the size of their hearts.
Pound for pound, the guy is as clutch as they come and still one of the most lethal finishers around the basket in traffic. That’s why you want Goran out there.
