The Miami Heat Have A Ton Of Guards: Who Could Forget About Gabe Vincent

They aren’t the only ones to consider among this rotation though. While there is only truly one more guard, you could have extended it out to the Max Strus’s of the world as well.

While Max bounces along the perimeter between forward and guard, the focus will remain on his two-way counterpart.

Gabe Vincent

Gabe Vincent will certainly become the odd-man out of the rotation, barring any of the Heat’s backcourt personnel missing time. With constant injuries earlier in the year, Vincent was able to see the floor for several games at a time and was advantageous in those opportunities.

He did struggle to shoot the ball consistently, but still showcased great hustle and focus on the defensive end. You can thank Avery Bradley’s defensive game tape for that improvement, according to Vincent himself.

Depth Chart Prediction for The Heat (Playoffs)

Below is a predicted depth chart that Coach Spoelstra may use, but also a visual of just how every abundant this Miami Heat roster is when it comes to the guards. Check it out:

  • Starting Point Guard – Victor Oladipo
  • Starting Shooting Guard – Duncan Robinson
  • Backup Point Guard – Goran Dragic
  • Backup Shooting Guard – Tyler Herro
  • Reserve – Kendrick Nunn
  • Reserve – Gabe Vincent

While minute allocation is a looming concern, having a logjam in your backcourt rotation is an issue that all NBA teams would much rather ask for than not. There’s never a such thing as too much talent and no matter who’s on the floor, the Heat will continue to offer versatility, with guard-play being their most important.
