The Miami Heat need to be active with their opportunity in order that that they don’t waste Jimmy Butler’s time there.

McCollum would be perfect for Miami in many ways. McCollum is a three level scorer, as mentioned, which Miami desperately needs.

McCollum can get to his pull-up with ease, whether its pulling up for the three ball or finding his spots in the mid-range. Also, McCollum uses his floater as well as anyone when it comes to getting to the cup.

McCollum, with Butler and Adebayo, would be able to get his points whenever and wherever he wants. Both Butler and Adebayo like to get their teammates going but as we have seen this year, it’s been a struggle for Miami to get consistent points from the others not named Duncan Robinson and more recently, Dewayne Dedmon.

McCollum can put up points in a hurry, especially with Butler and Adebayo always looking to pass. Defensively, McCollum has never played with defenders like Butler and Adebayo, nor a coach like Erik Spoelstra, who preaches and craves defense.

McCollum is not great on that side of the ball but with Miami, he would just look to score so as long as he is average or better,  I don’t see it being a big issue. McCollum has 3 years left on his deal with Portland, at $100 Million.

Miami could use there cap space to take on his salary, potentially including Herro, KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, and picks in the deal. Another way Miami could acquire McCollum is by adding Andre Iguodala’s $15 million dollar contract in as well.

Iguodala, who has a team option for $15 million, would be used in a trade if Miami were to pick up his option. Point blank, Miami needs to acquire a three level scorer to get to the next step.

Also, not to waste Jimmy Butler’s time in Miami. That’s why the should be the move.
