The Miami Heat needed a ball-handler and a point of attack defender, for which they thought they had gotten in Victor Oladipo.

Dipo is a really good defender but again, when he’s right and if he had remained healthy, you have to imagine that it would have fully shone through. He’s too good of a player on that side of the ball for it to not have.

Defensive Grade – B-

It’s really as simple as this for Oladipo. He showed some good things, but only across four games.

He couldn’t remain healthy after coming over from Houston and that’s an issue. You wonder if this was just a matter of time thing though with him, being that he didn’t play a ton of games before coming over from Houston.

With that though, you hope to bring him back on a more team-friendly prove it deal if you are Miami. If he is, indeed, back right, then you shouldn’t have a problem taking care of him following this next season if you are Miami.

If he isn’t at that same level, then you act accordingly after the season if you are Miami. That could mean bringing him back at a comparable number to what he now offers or letting him walk.

Overall Grade – I

Either way, for this season, the overall grade has to be Incomplete. He didn’t stick on long enough to make it otherwise.

Hopefully, he comes back to finish the job. Well, at least long enough to earn a final grade this time.
