Miami Heat: 3 threats to sign Kendrick Nunn this offseason
By Jack Simone
The Toronto Raptors could sneakily steal Kendrick Nunn away from the Miami Heat, but a sign-and-trade could be possible.
The Toronto Raptors could be the biggest sleeper team to go after Nunn in free agency. They’ll have a decent amount of cap space and he fits their timeline perfectly.
Kyle Lowry will likely be on the way out this offseason, as the Raptors were rumored to be shopping him at the deadline anyway. With this, they are expected to hit the reset button a bit and develop their younger core of players.
They won big on lottery night, netting the fourth pick in this year’s draft. Most outlets project them to select Jalen Suggs, a 6-4 guard out of Gonzaga.
Pairing him next to Fred VanVleet in the backcourt is ideal, as he would add some much-needed size. This would allow Nunn to be the team’s sixth man.
Nunn is 25 years old, which fits in perfectly with the team’s timeline. Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam are both 27, while OG Anunoby is 23.
This could be another opportunity for the Miami Heat to pull off a sign-and-trade. Kyle Lowry is someone many people believe to be on the Heat’s target list this summer.
Swapping the players would work out well for both sides. The Heat get a veteran point guard to help them compete now, while the Raptors add a younger player that fits their timeline.
Nunn will likely receive multiple offers from various teams this offseason. It’s all going to come down to how much the Miami Heat are willing to pay him.
