Miami Heat draft target #2: Ayo Dosunmu

Ayo Dosunmu is a 6-5 combo guard who played at Illinois. He and Kofi Cockburn led the Fighting Illini to a one seed in the NCAA Tournament.

He averaged 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in his junior season. Dosunmu shot 48.8% from the field and 39% from deep.

Scouting reports note his super-efficient shooting as one of his best skills. Adding a player who can score as well as Dosunmu can would certainly help replace Nunn and/or Dragic if they leave this offseason.

At 6-5, Dosunmu has the ability to play both point guard and shooting guard. This versatility is super valuable at the NBA level.

In addition, he’s a solid defender whose height allows him to guard multiple positions. He could end up being a serious defensive upgrade for the Miami Heat at the guard position.

He excels in plenty of other areas as well. His rebounding, playmaking, and ball-handling skills are all super solid.

Dosunmu is currently projected to go in the first round. At 21 years old, however, some of the younger point guards could get taken ahead of him.

If the Miami Heat could somehow trade up in the draft, he should be considered a top option. He’s more than ready to contribute at the NBA level.
