The Dallas Mavericks want to put as much talent around Luka Doncic as they can. Adding an elite shooter to replace Seth Curry would definitely help.

The Dallas Mavericks have a ton of wiggle room this offseason. Even if they don’t end up trading Kristaps Porzingis, they should have a ton of cap space to work with.

Their priority is to put as much talent around Luka Doncic as possible. Adding a shooter of Robinson’s caliber definitely qualifies as adding talent.

Robinson’s ability to nail three-point shots in traffic, off the catch, and coming off a screen is the exact sort of versatile shooting the Mavs need.

Trading away Seth Curry seriously hurt their shooting. Well, Robinson would be the perfect player to replace Curry.

The Mavericks will likely chase big-name free agency targets before they go after Robinson. That being said, if they still haven’t spent much money and decide to pursue him, he could get a big-time offer.

Dallas is projected to have around $34 million in cap space this summer. They could get away with giving Robinson around half of that, but if they wanted to overpay him, they could even throw him $20 million per year.

At that point, it’s just a matter of how much the Miami Heat are willing to pay to keep Robinson around. That would be a tough decision to make for Pat Riley.
