Alec Burks had a great season with the New York Knicks last year. His scoring would be a great help to a Miami Heat team that struggled to put points on the board last season.

He can play some small forward but has spent the majority of his career playing shooting guard. At 6-6, he has good size for the position.

Last year, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Burks shot 42% from the field and 41.5% from three-point range.

His efficient shooting is exactly what the Miami Heat need in their rotation. They finished 15th in field goal percentage and 19th in three-point percentage last season.

Signing veterans should be a top priority since the Miami Heat are looking to improve their championship odds. Burks is about to turn 30 years old, so he certainly fits the bill in that regard.

Burks could step into any role the team gives him. Depending on whether or not Tyler Herro becomes a full-time starter next season, he could either start at the two or be the team’s sixth man.

The Knicks will likely try to bring him back, and they’ll have a ton of cap space to do so. The only way he would slip through the cracks is if they land a big-name free agent.

If the Miami Heat throw him an offer of around $8-$10 million they could probably steal him away. It’s all about what he’s looking for this offseason.
