Lonzo Ball is the perfect point guard to lead the Miami Heat into the future. He and Bam Adebayo would help them remain in contention for years to come.

Shams Charania of The Athletic recently reported that the Pelicans are unlikely to match any large offer sheets for Lonzo Ball. This gives the Miami Heat a real shot at signing him.

He excels in every area the Miami Heat need help in. Ball could come in and start at point guard right away.

His playmaking and three-point shooting add new layers to Miami’s offense. In addition, he’s one of the better perimeter defenders in the NBA, so they wouldn’t even be losing out on that end of the floor.

Last year, Ball averaged 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. He shot 41.4% from the field and 37.8% from deep.

The main reason he didn’t average more assists was that Stan Van Gundy was starting him alongside Eric Bledsoe. This forced Ball to split ball-handling duties way more than he should have.

Giving Ball shooters to work with such as Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson would only allow him to rack up even more assists. Plus, the pick n’ roll game with him and Adebayo would be beautiful.

If the Miami Heat throw him an offer of around $20-$25 million, it should be enough to steal him away from New Orleans. At that point, all they have to worry about is other teams trying to sign him, too.

Signing Ball would be a massive win for the Miami Heat. They would finally have their franchise point guard who can grow with Adebayo.
