Miami Heat: Miami Heat: 5 Ideal Role Players To Look At- Richaun Holmes
This next guy made sure that Hassan Whiteside was planted on the bench this past season in Sacramento. That’s enough to get the Heat’s attention.
4. Richaun Holmes
Richaun Holmes would be a great addition to help Bam with the rebounding in the front court. He has averaged over eight rebounds in the last two campaigns playing in Sacramento.
Holmes also averaged 14 points per game last season, showing he could also help the Heat with scoring. He is not able to really space the floor, but working with the second unit makes that less of a problem.
Running him and Bam together would be a nightmare in terms of spacing, but I am willing to sacrifice that if it means stopping bigger centers from rolling through the paint to score or out-rebound the Heat’s front-court.
Holmes is extremely effective inside the paint, shooting 62 percent on two pointers. That added efficiency could add much-needed offense and Holmes is always going to be a defensive stopper at 6’10”.
He averaged 1.6 blocks per game last season, meaning he can hold down the paint while Bam is resting. These players are obviously just who I would like to see the Heat try and acquire, but one thing is certain.
This roster needs to be improved and that includes the role players on the squad. Upgrading some of the squad’s older role players for some younger and more exciting ones should be at the top of the front office’s to-do list.
