Legends for Miami Heat wing Duncan Robinson to study: Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller was one of the first elite three-point shooters in the NBA. He has that killer instinct that not many players possess.

Everyone remembers when Miller scored eight points in nine seconds, and that type of scoring is exactly what Robinson needs to perfect – catch-and-shoot, quick-fire opportunities.

He averaged 18.2 points, three rebounds, and three assists for his career. Miller averaged 4.7 three-point attempts per game and shot 39.5% from deep.

Robinson is already a great shooter, but learning how to position himself even better could be a huge help. Spoelstra may call most of the plays, but being able to get to his spots on his own is a huge skill.

Miller always knew how to pick his spots, and was the best player on some really good Pacers teams. While Robinson doesn’t have the pressure of being the best player on the Miami Heat, he should be able to use that to his advantage.

With a bunch of attention going to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, Robinson should be able to find even more open looks. If he can learn Miller’s tricks without nearly as much pressure being on him, it would help his game a ton.
