Former Goran Dragic teammate for the Miami Heat to sign: Ish Smith

Ish Smith would step in and be a solid backup point guard for the Miami Heat. His elite speed and solid scoring would deliver a decent punch off the bench.

Smith and Dragic were teammates on the Rockets during the 2010-11 season. For reference of how long ago that was, Yao Ming was on the roster.

At the time, Smith was a rookie and Dragic was in his second year in the NBA. Both have grown a ton as players since then, obviously.

Smith has played for 11 different teams over the course of his 11-year NBA career. He has been traded five different times but spent the last two years with the Washington Wizards.

Last season, Smith averaged 6.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He shot 43.4% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range in 21 minutes per game.

His scoring would help out a guard rotation that is likely to change this offseason. With Kendrick Nunn potentially leaving in free agency, the Heat need to find a new backup point guard.

The best part about signing Smith is that he should only cost about a league-minimum deal. At 33 years old, a deal that cheap is a good deal for a backup point guard of his caliber.
