What would a Miami Heat trade for Brandon Ingram look like?

The biggest question when considering a trade for Brandon Ingram is just that – what would the trade be? Well, it would certainly have to include the Heat’s most valuable asset, Tyler Herro.

Herro is only 21 years old and would be able to grow with Zion Williamson in New Orleans. His ball-handling abilities as a guard would likely make him a better fit alongside Williamson in the long run.

Past that, the Miami Heat would have to get crafty with assets. They don’t have much to work with in terms of players available to be traded.

In the end, a deal would likely look something like this. The Miami Heat get their guy, and the Pelicans get some youth that could be moved in a trade moving forward.

The Pelicans just traded for Jonas Valanciunas, getting rid of Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams in the process. If they want to continue to shape out their roster, adding some youth could help with that.

If they don’t want to keep KZ Okpala or Precious Achiuwa, they could surely find a rebuilding team to take them on in exchange for a veteran. The Rockets stand out as one option, with a trade for DJ Augustin or Danuel House being possibilities.

A sign-and-trade for Kendrick Nunn could also be possible, but the Pelicans would have to have interest in signing him. Nunn would also have to show mutual interest in that deal.

The Pelicans get every possible asset the Heat have to trade this offseason. However, the Heat get another young superstar to build around moving forward.

New Orleans also receives two solid veterans that can help mentor their young players. Goran Dragic and Andre Iguodala would be able to help put the right culture in place for the young Pelicans.

The downside to this trade is that it would likely take up the majority of Miami’s cap space moving forward. That’s the price the Heat pay for trading for a star like Ingram, though.
