Young players the Miami Heat should target: Jonathan Isaac

Jonathan Isaac is the only other young player who I have as a lock to win at least one Defensive Player of the Year other than Bam Adebayo. Adding Isaac would make the Heat the best defensive team in the league, but it would leave them a little shorthanded on offense.

In his last full season of basketball (2018-2019), Isaac averaged 9.4 points per game. He shoots 33% from three on his career, which is a little below league average. However, if he could find a flow offensively and improve to where he can average scoring numbers in the high teens, then he could be a legitimate third star on this Miami Heat team.

In the future, Bam and Isaac would be one of the best defensive pairings in the league and make sure that the Heat stay a defensive juggernaut in the East long after Jimmy hangs up his Li-Nings.

If Isaac can develop into a somewhat above-average offensive player, the Heat would have two two-way beasts in their lineup for the foreseeable future. However, there is no guarantee that Isaac will ever develop an offensive game, especially after two big injuries that make him a bit of a risk.

I think adding young talent would be much more beneficial for the Heat than adding older players like Kyle Lowry. The front office should make sure to take the future into consideration when making moves this season and make sure to remember that Bam is waiting to take over once Jimmy is no longer good enough.
