Miami Heat Summer League rookies that could make the team: Marcus Garrett

Marcus Garrett spent four years at Kansas and will now join the Miami Heat for Summer League. The 6-5 guard is a great defender who is finally putting it all together on the offensive end.

His defense is by far his best trait. Any team that gets him is getting a player who will be an absolute menace on the perimeter.

Reports say that he was likely the second-choice to Davion Mitchell for Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year last season. He’s just that good.

On top of that, Garrett finally showed the ability to shoot threes last season. The addition of that to his game will be very necessary at the NBA level.

In his senior season at Kansas, Garrett averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He shot 45.9% from the field and 34.8% from three-point range.

The Summer League is going to expose a lot about Garret’s game. If he can keep up this consistency from behind the arc, he will absolutely be able to find a job in the NBA.

His defense is something Miami Heat fans should be drooling over. The combo guard would be a great addition to their guard rotation, he just has to keep improving as a shooter.
