Miami Heat FA: Can Kyle Lowry Continue To Come Up Clutch For His New Team?
Placing the final touches on the series in Game 7 — Lowry closed out the Heat with 35 points and 9 assists, including five three-pointers to send the Heat home in a 27-point Game 7 blowout.
Lowry’s 23.4 points in the second round was second among all scorers behind Dwyane Wade, but the Raptors ultimately couldn’t surpass the eventual 2016 NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Of course, much has happened since that Heat and Raptors had that dogfight, as Lowry and the Raptors were eventually crowned NBA champions in 2019, as alluded to earlier. Miami, however, would reach the NBA Finals themselves a season later.
Now after a sign-and-trade acquisition that will send Goran Dragic and Precious Achiuwa to Toronto, Lowry is set to become a member of the Miami Heat franchise, as they hope to embark on, yet another, deep postseason run.
At 36 years of age, Lowry has just as much postseason experience as any other guard in today’s game and the Heat could certainly use more of that continuity. Nonetheless, that experience will have to transpire when it’s needed most, as the Heat will need him to deliver in clutch moments, just as he was able to do in Toronto for so many years.
