Goals for Kyle Lowry with the Miami Heat next season: 8+ assists
Jimmy Butler is a great playmaker, but the Miami Heat need more. Adding Lowry to the team gives them someone who can consistently run their offense.
He’s an amazing passer that makes those around him better. Having him run the point will be a blessing for Miami’s offense.
Ironically enough, the Heat were actually a top ten team in assists per game last season. However, now they have two players who can legitimately average seven or more assists per game.
For Lowry, however, that bar is going to be set a bit higher. With the young talent and three-point shooters the Heat have on the roster, he could legitimately average eight.
Lowry has only reached that mark one time in his NBA career. He averaged 8.7 assists in the 2018-19 season, and as mentioned previously, that just happens to be the year Toronto won their first-ever NBA championship.
His playmaking abilities have the potential to unlock so many opportunities for Miami. They’ve had some great point guards before, but no one on Lowry’s level.
Now that Butler doesn’t always have to be the primary ball-handler, he can even work on other things, too. If Lowry can put up eight or more assists, the Miami Heat will be in good shape.
