Miami Heat: 3 FA Targets That Signed For Less – Bobby Portis & Kelly Oubre

The Miami Heat surely could have used a versatile forward to play beside Bam Adebayo. Though they brought back/in three guys in P.J. Tucker, Markieff Morris, and Dewayne Dedmon, there were two guys on the open market that would have worked well too.

Bobby Portis

A key part of what the Milwaukee Bucks were able to do in this past playoff run, Bobby Portis severely undersold himself on the open market. He must really love Milwaukee… like seriously.

Re-signing for two years and nine million dollars, Portis could have gotten more than the nine million, annually, from some other team. It really shows a dedication, but he undervalued his own earning ability there.

Kelly Oubre

Where Bobby Portis made a choice, the choice was made for Kelly Oubre. In Golden State and by function of them trying to maximize Andrew Wiggins, it would seem, he was lost in the sauce.

Because of that and Wiggins’ presence, to be frank, he wasn’t able to highlight himself and what it is that makes him special. Thus, you knew his value wouldn’t be anything crazy.

The $13 million annually though, that he got from Charlotte, is less than that. You would have though he was, at least, a $20 million per guy with all he can do.

That’s just it though, when you can’t show it, they forget… or at least, act like they have.
