Miami Heat players feeling the pressure: Duncan Robinson

Duncan Robinson will definitely get a ton of playing time next season. The pressure he is likely feeling comes from a very different place.

The Miami Heat just signed Robinson to a five-year, $90 million contract extension. This means he’ll be making around $18 million a year.

Just last year, Robinson was making a fraction of that money. With big-time paychecks comes big-time pressure, and Robinson will surely be feeling that this year.

There is going to be a whole new set of expectations placed on Robinson by the fans and the organization. His three-point shooting is spectacular, but he’ll have to develop into an even more dynamic player.

He stated on an episode of The Long Shot podcast that he wants to improve upon a few things this offseason. One is adding a go-to two-point shot, and the other is improving his overall body.

Doing those things is a step in the right direction, but he will definitely still be feeling the pressure. If he has a disappointing season this year, people will be quick to call his contract an overpay.

As great as Miami Heat fans are, they are also a very prideful fanbase. They want their players to do great things, but they aren’t afraid to let them know when they are underperforming.

With the payday he got this summer, Robinson will certainly be feeling the pressure next season. Hopefully, he can step up to the plate.
