Miami Heat players set to lose playing time: Tyler Herro

As great as Tyler Herro is, he might end up losing some minutes this year. With Kyle Lowry at the helm, the Miami Heat might not need him to close out games anymore.

Last year, Herro racked up more fourth-quarter minutes per game than anyone else on the Heat. He was followed by Bam Adebayo, Andre Iguodala, and Goran Dragic in this ranking.

Though he will still have a huge role on the team, he might not get as many minutes. Miami added a few key pieces to their rotation that might end up stealing some of his playing time.

Lowry is the obvious frontrunner to steal some of Herro’s minutes. He’s an All-Star caliber point guard who will likely play over 30 minutes a night.

Even players like PJ Tucker could end up cutting into Herro’s playing time. If Miami chooses to go with a bigger lineup on some night, Herro might not play as much.

Lastly, players like Max Strus and Gabe Vincent could be in the rotation more. Herro is clearly the better player, but Miami just invested in those two.

The only way for Strus and Vincent to improve is to play, and the fact that the Heat signed them again means they believe in them. They should be getting some decent run as well.

Herro will definitely still play a ton this year, but his minutes may take a hit. There’s just a lot more talent on the Heat this year than there was last year.
