Comparing the 2022 Miami Heat to the 2022 Miami Heat
2020 PFs: Jae Crowder, Kelly Olynyk
2022 PFs: PJ Tucker, Markieff Morris
Now this debate is fairly interesting. Jae Crowder, PJ Tucker, and Markieff Morris all play similar styles of basketball, but Kelly Olynyk is the x-factor in this scenario.
Olynyk provided some elite floor spacing for the Miami Heat in 2020. Having him out there to diversify the offense a bit was a huge help at times.
Meanwhile, Crowder is probably the best player out of the trio of himself, Tucker, and Morris. Tucker is the better defender, but Crowder’s offensive game puts him over the top.
Out of these two cores, 2020 probably takes the cake, but it’s not by much. If Tucker and Morris can shoot well from range, they might make the case that they are better.
2020 PFs vs 2022 PFs: 2020 Wins
2020 Cs: Bam Adebayo
2022 Cs: Bam Adebayo, Dewayne Dedmon, Omer Yurtseven
I mean, this race isn’t even a competition. The Miami Heat clearly bolstered their center rotation this season and it is bound to pay off.
Kelly Olynyk ended up playing some backup center minutes in 2020, but he was best as a power forward. Now, Miami has two legitimate options to backup Adebayo.
Dewayne Dedmon played super well last season and knows his role well. As for Omer Yurtseven, he has shown some great potential in Summer League and could burst onto the scene this year.
The 2022 center rotation completely blows the 2020 center rotation out of the water. It’s not even close.
2020 Cs vs 2022 Cs: 2022 Wins
Overall, the 2022 team finished with more positional wins than the 2020 team. Honestly, they could end up sweeping the 2020 team in all categories if their young players take the necessary steps towards improvement.
It’ll be fun to see how this season pans out for the Miami Heat. Hopefully, they are able to replicate the success of the 2020 team.
