Miami Heat: Could Rajon Rondo Change His Mind About South Beach?

After leaving Los Angeles to sign with the Atlanta Hawks last offseason, Rondo would then be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for Lou Williams during the March 25th deadline, but in the 2021 offseason, Rondo would be moved, once again, to his seventh team in eight years.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers completed a deal on Sunday afternoon that would send Rondo, as well as Patrick Beverley, to the Memphis Grizzlies for Eric Bledsoe.

There’s possible speculation that the Grizzlies could waive Rondo, as he’d be third in their point guard rotation behind Beverley and rising-star, Ja Morant, if they keep him around.

If the Grizzlies do decide to waive Rondo, he’d immediately become a top point guard option in the open-market. For Miami, who recently acquired Kyle Lowry at the start of free agency, could perhaps use another experienced ball-handler after the offseason departures of Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn.
