Dream targets for the Miami Heat: CJ McCollum

CJ McCollum would fit in perfectly with what the Miami Heat are trying to build. They have enough defense, now all they need to add is some offense.

Well, McCollum would be the perfect player to add in that case. He’s been one of the best offensive shooting guards in the NBA for years.

He and Damian Lillard have reached as far as the Western Conference Finals with the Blazers. That might be the peak they can reach as a duo.

While the attention has always been on Lillard, McCollum has been fantastic during his time in Portland, too. If he got to be the offensive focus on his own team, he could get even better.

McCollum averaged a career-high 23.1 points per game last season. If he were to join Miami, he could legitimately average close to 30 points per game.

There would definitely be a ton of talent around him, but he would be the only true “bucket-getter” on the roster. Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry are unselfish playmakers, Bam Adebayo is a defensive-specialist, and the rest of the team is fairly young.

The 29-year-old shooting guard would thrive in Miami as the primary scoring option. He would finally get to leave the shadow of Lillard, though there’s been no indication he dislikes his situation in Portland.

If Pat Riley could somehow pull off this dream addition, it would be perfect. McCollum’s offensive game would elevate the ceiling of the Miami Heat by a bunch.
