Current players most likely to retire with the Miami Heat: Duncan Robinson

Duncan Robinson has a very unique opportunity on his hands. Realistically speaking, he could be the next player to be a Miami Heat lifer and spend his entire career with the team.

Just a few short years ago, the Heat took a chance on an undrafted free agent out of Michigan. Now, he is one of the highest-paid undrafted players of all time.

Robinson started his journey with Williams, a Division III college. Now, he plays a pivotal role in Miami’s offense and is one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA.

The Miami Heat gave him a five-year, $90 million extension to stay with the team this offseason. He’ll have a bigger role than ever on the team as their go-to scorer on the perimeter.

By the end of his extension, Robinson will be around 32 years old. At that point, he might simply choose to remain in South Beach.

That being said, shooters are usually valued far into their 30s. There’s a good chance Robinson is still getting big-time contract offers by the time he is 32 years old.

However, there’s no reason the Heat shouldn’t be the one to pay him. With their young core, he could still be around and an important member of the team by then.

If Robinson ends up staying with the Heat after this current extension, there’s a good chance he spends his entire career in Miami. He could be the second-ever Heat lifer.
