Best trade the Miami Heat made with the Sacramento Kings: Bimbo Coles

Funnily enough, the best trade the Miami Heat ever made with the Kings was the first one they ever did. Miami received Bimbo Coles in exchange for Rory Sparrow.

Miami actually completed this trade on draft night when the Kings selected Coles with the 40th overall pick in the 1990 Draft. At the time, Sparrow was 32 years old, so the Heat got a young talent for a veteran.

In the end, Sparrow only ended up playing one season with the Kings. Meanwhile, Coles played in Miami for five and a half seasons, as well as one more in the final season of his career.

Sparrow averaged 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists for the Kings in his one season with the team. Meanwhile, Coles averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in all of his years in South Beach.

The longevity of Coles’ time in Miami alone makes this trade a huge win for the Heat. Sacramento tried to improve in the short term, and it just didn’t really work out for them.

Bimbo Coles wasn’t a superstar by any means, but he played a solid role for the Heat for a long while in the 1990s. The Miami Heat definitely won this trade with the Sacramento Kings.
