What was the best trade the Miami Heat made with the Dallas Mavericks?

It was tough to choose between two trades when deciding on what the best deal was. It came down to two – the Jamal Mashburn trade and the Kevin Edwards trade.

On the one hand, Edwards had a super long career with the Miami Heat. However, on the other, Mashburn had a much bigger impact during his time in South Beach.

For that reason, the Mashburn trade takes the cake as the best trade the Miami Heat made with the Dallas Mavericks. His impact in Miami was just too great to ignore.

During his three and a half seasons with the Heat, he helped lead them to the playoffs every year. Meanwhile, he only made the playoffs two other seasons throughout his 11-year NBA career.

Mashburn ended his career a one-time All-Star. Though that appearance came years after his time with the Heat, his impact in Miami was undeniable.

To take this a step further, the pieces the Heat sent to Dallas in the trade didn’t amount to anything. None of them ended up playing a big role with the Mavericks.

The only player who made any sort of impact was Sasha Danilović. He averaged over 16 points per game for Dallas, but he only ended up playing 13 games with the team.

As a whole, this trade was a huge win for the Miami Heat. Mashburn was able to lead them to the playoffs, and what they gained was worth much more than what they gave up.
