Re-drafting the 2020 NBA Draft: 16. Tyrese Maxey, Detroit Pistons

Original pick: Isaiah Stewart

Despite having limited opportunities in Philadelphia, Tyrese Maxey managed to put together a solid rookie campaign. Since Isaiah Stewart is already off the board, the Pistons go with Maxey in this re-draft.

If he reaches his full potential, Maxey could end up being an absolute bucket in the NBA. He’s a solid scorer already and looks like he could end up being a solid NBA point guard.

Unfortunately, his time with the 76ers might be coming to an end soon. Rich Paul, Maxey’s agent, recently said that he wants Maxey included in any Ben Simmons trade so they can both be out of Philadelphia.

Hopefully, Maxey is traded to a team that he can get some more playing time with. He only played around 15 minutes per game last year, but still put up around eight points per game.

In this hypothetical re-draft, the Pistons land their backcourt of the future with Maxey and Cole Anthony. They lose out on Bey and Stewart but still get some good pieces.
