Who won the trade between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks?

Anyone who has followed the game of basketball can tell who won this trade. Pat Riley is one of the most influential people in the history of the Miami Heat organization.

Not only would he go on to coach the Miami Heat to an NBA championship in 2006, but he would also become one of the most well-known general managers in the NBA.

He helped put together the Big 3, too, which in turn brought a couple of titles. Overall, he has just had an incredible impact on the organization.

The fact that they only gave up a first-round pick for Riley is honestly astounding. The Knicks gave up a truly amazing coach, general manager, and person.

As for the other part of the trade, Walter McCarty did not amount to much in the league. In fact, he only played 35 total games with the Knicks before being traded again.

McCarty went on to play nearly 500 games with the Boston Celtics, but he was never a very important player. At best, he was a solid role player.

It is completely clear that the Miami Heat won this trade by far. They gave up a first-round pick that did not end up being of any value in exchange for, arguably, the most important person in their franchise’s history.
