Options for the final Miami Heat roster spot: 3&D wing

As of now, the Miami Heat have a solid mix of defense and shooting on their roster. However, they don’t have a ton of players who can do both.

Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are both elite defenders, but neither is a great shooter. Duncan Robinson is a phenomenal shooter, but he’s not exactly the best defender in the world.

While this won’t necessarily be an issue for Miami, it would be nice to have a go-to 3&D player on the bench. He wouldn’t even have to play a ton of minutes; he’d simply be a safety net option.

Luckily for Miami, there are a couple of players still on the market who fit this bill. Two that come to mind are Wesley Matthews and James Ennis.

Matthews played for the Lakers last season, and the Bucks the season before that. Ironically enough, he was on each team the year they didn’t win the title in the past two seasons.

In all seriousness, Matthews would be a solid option to bring off the bench for his three-point shooting and defense. That’s always been his game.

The same can be said for James Ennis. He has been linked to the Lakers lately, but if the Heat could sign him, he would be a great fit in Miami.
