Biggest weaknesses on the Miami Heat roster: Three-point shooting
Last season, the Miami Heat were one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA. This season, despite improvements, it still remains as one of their biggest weaknesses.
If Duncan Robinson’s makes and attempts were subtracted from Miami’s totals last year, they would have been the third-worst three-point shooting team. That’s a horrendous stat.
They needed to get better in that regard this offseason, and they did. Pat Riley made some key moves to try and improve the team’s shooting.
Both Kyle Lowry and PJ Tucker should be able to give Miami a boost in that regard. However, is that improvement significant enough to make a huge impact?
The fact still remains that Miami’s two biggest stars cannot shoot the ball. Bam Adebayo has shown improvements, but he hasn’t started taking threes in NBA games yet.
When that is the case, it could spell trouble on some nights. The Miami Heat will obviously still be a great team, but having two stars who can’t shoot is never a great thing.
Having a weakness doesn’t make them a bad basketball team, it’s just an area that they need to work on. Hopefully, they can shoot that ball better from three-point range this season on their way to a deep playoff run.
