Miami Heat: Are Corner Threes High On The Menu Of Improvement?

However, Dragic led all Heat players in corner-three percentage last season, but won’t have to worry about that drop-off a ton, as both Dragic and Lowry have shot almost 40 percent on corner attempts throughout their careers.

Despite playing just 46 games in the 2020-21 season, Lowry had his best season ever from shots taken in the corner. His ability to attack the defense and get to the rim are effective, for which the Heat will see a hefty dose of.

Nonetheless, it’ll be just as critical for Kyle to thrive as an off-ball shooter, an area for which he already succeeds in. This allows for the Heat’s other stars, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, to transition into secondary and tertiary playmakers — thus drawing defenders who may cheat on corner looks.

Andre Iguodala and Trevor Ariza are two more players who won’t return to Miami next season, as Iguodala shot 39 percent on corner threes and Ariza went for 37 percent. Although replacing them will be former Milwaukee Bucks forward, P.J. Tucker, a prototypical small-ball four with a special corner-three prowess too.
