Miami Heat trade history with the Atlanta Hawks

The most recent trade the Miami Heat made with the Atlanta Hawks was back at the 2019 NBA Draft. Miami traded a future second-round pick to the Hawks in exchange for a 2019 second.

That pick ended up being Bol Bol, who the Miami Heat obviously did not select. Considering that the 2024 second the Hawks got is very heavily protected, this trade is pretty much a wash.

This trade was also fairly lowkey, and was still fairly recent. The Miami Heat dealt Okaro White to the Hawks in exchange for Luke Babbit back in 2018.

Babbit only ended up playing 13 games with the Heat, but White never played any games for the Hawks. Considering those numbers, despite the fact that they are very minuscule, the Heat just barely won this trade.

This was another draft-night trade that saw the Miami Heat land rookie James Ennis. In exchange, they send a 2017 draft pick to Atlanta which turned into Sterling Brown.

Although Ennis turned into a fairly productive NBA player, he only spent a little over one season in Miami before being traded. However, since Brown never even suited up for the Hawks, this wasn’t a bad trade for Miami.

This is by far the biggest trade of the bunch, and it saw the Heat trade Steve Smith, Grant Long, and a second-round pick to the Hawks for Kevin Willis and a first-round pick.

Unfortunately for Miami, while Willis would have a decent career with the Heat, both Smith and Long played very well in Atlanta. Based on that success, the Miami Heat probably lost this encounter. That is until you take a further look…
