Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs preseason preview: Game preview

Although many people disregard the preseason as insignificant, what the Miami Heat have accomplished thus far is far from it. They have looked extremely impressive and will look to expand upon that tonight.

Miami does not look like a team playing in the preseason. They are going out there every night with one purpose and one purpose only – to win.

Everyone on the court is giving it their all at all times, and that includes arguing with the refs when they feel slighted. It’s a great mindset to play with, and one that the Miami Heat have exemplified for years.

In tonight’s game, they will have a chance to start the season 3-0 against an underwhelming Spurs team. San Antonio hit the reset button this offseason and will likely be entering a pseudo-rebuild.

The only reason it cannot be called a flat-out rebuild is because of one man – Gregg Popovich. As long as he is around, the Spurs will always have a chance at winning to some degree.

That is exactly why the Miami Heat can’t just throw this game away, not that they were planning to in the first place. Having Popovich on the sideline always gives the Spurs a chance to win.

Miami’s backcourt is going to have to do a lot of the heavy lifting on defense tonight. They will be tasked with containing both Murray and Forbes, San Antonio’s two leading scorers this preseason.

Hopefully, the Miami Heat can come out of the gates hot tonight and then rest their starters in the second half like they did last night vs. the Rockets.
