Takeaways from the Miami Heat preseason game vs the Houston Rockets: Dewayne Dedmon & Kyle Lowry

Dewayne Dedmon had a comedy of errors

While the stat sheet may say that Dewayne Dedmon had a fairly effective eight-point, eight-rebound game, anyone who watched knows that it was far from just that.

All throughout the first half Dedmon just couldn’t seem to do anything right. He was picking up moving screen fouls, throwing the ball away, and dropping passes.

This isn’t to say that Dedmon isn’t a quality backup point guard, he just had a really rough night. He knew it, too, as it was clear that he was getting visibly frustrated with himself.

There’s little doubt that Dedmon will be able to turn things around quickly, he just struggled last night. Hopefully, he’ll be back on track by the next game

Kyle Lowry continues to impress

As mentioned when discussing Tyler Herro’s phenomenal performance, Kyle Lowry looked great in this game. He piggy-backed off a stellar game vs. the Hawks and played superbly last night.

He tallied seven assists in the first quarter alone and ended the game with 10 assists in around only 19 minutes of playing time. It was a truly impressive display.

His ability to create shots for others is going to bring Miami’s offense to the next level. In fact, it already is in just two preseason performances.

Lowry will have another chance to build on his play thus far later tonight when the Miami Heat take on the San Antonio Spurs. That game tips off at 8:30 p.m. (EST).
