Under-the-radar Eastern Conference players the Miami Heat need to watch out for: DeMar DeRozan & James Bouknight

DeMar DeRozan

DeMar DeRozan joined the Chicago Bulls this offseason after playing with the Spurs for the past few years. He is definitely someone the Heat need to watch out for.

Chicago improved across the board this summer, adding players such as Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso as well. However, with the amount of talent around him, DeRozan could improve his production this year.

In San Antonio, it was the DeRozan show and he was unable to lead the team to any significantly successful seasons. However, he has a definitively more talented group around him in Chicago.

With the amount of shooting they have, his mid-range game could provide a nice change of pace. Watch out for DeRozan this year, as he could have a really good season for the Bulls.

James Bouknight

The Hornets are a fun, up-and-coming team in the East, and they just drafted James Bouknight at the 2021 NBA Draft. He has been playing great for them so far this preseason.

The Heat just faced off with Charlotte in their last game, and he put up 14 points in that one. Bouknight is a bonafide bucket and a threat to score at any point in time.

The way he moves and can handle the basketball is beyond his years. As he develops and grows accustomed to the NBA, he will end up being a dangerous player to go up against.

As the Hornets try to push for the playoffs this season, he is certainly a name to watch out for. Just because he is a rookie doesn’t mean he won’t be a threat to the Miami Heat this year.
