Miami Heat vs. Detroit Pistons: ML Has No Value, But What About Others?

The spread is always a bit risky, as professional sports all follow the rule of footballany given Sunday.

Though, typically, the best team wins in sports outside of football, with the rest-driven nature of the NBA and the deepening of the three-point shooting philosophies in the league right now, any team can lose to anyone on any given night if something is off.

That definitely applies when you, not only have to win, but win by nine points. Again and just like the moneyline, the Miami Heat should cover the spread of -9, but it’s too risky of a play to make here.

That is, unless in a teaser, which can get it down to as few as -3 or so. However, that’s a different topic though, so just stay away.

Lastly, the over/under is 208, which is a point higher than it was for the last game against Washington. The only difference is that you were talking about two of the highest scoring teams in the league.

Now, one of the teams in charge of helping get to that number, the Pistons, are near the very bottom of the league in scoring. How can the game be expected to go one point higher than the Wizards game then?

The wise guys could be trying to tell you that they believe the Pistons defense is so bad, that they think the Miami Heat might outscore their average and run it up to that high of a total by themselves. However, the risk is too high there.

The safe bet is to say away from the over/under here. The Miami Heat should win the game, but when wagering, it’s rarely about the outright win.

Sometimes it is, but especially not in a lopsided matchup like Tuesday’s. As tempting as it may be to make a play on this one, the safest and smartest move to make on this game is no move at all.

All of the numbers are too wanky right now. If you just must make a play though, make a live bet when the odds and figures might be more manageable of favorable.

As always though and regardless of what you do, choose smartly and wager wisely!
