Miami Heat: Though In Defeat, Jimmy Butler Was Still A Force Of Nature
Jimmy Butler was magnificent against the Raptors. In a game where the Heat struggled with taking care of the ball, Butler controlled the pace while maintaining his aggression.
He was up to 24 points and seven rebounds in the first half. When everyone else was struggling, Jimmy Butler kept his team in the game.
He finished the game with 37 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Despite all of the struggles in the first half, the Heat still found themselves in a position to win the game. With some big shots from Max Strus and Tyler Herro, along with some key defensive plays, the Heat fought their way back from being down by 16 points to send the game into three overtimes.
In the first overtime, the Miami Heat did what they do best. They forced turnovers and scored at the other end.
However, one bad turnover from Jimmy Butler ultimately forced a second overtime.
In the second overtime, it was their hustle and discipline to take high-percentage shots that kept them in the game. However, a big shot from Fred VanVleet and an unfortunately timed timeout ended up sending the game to yet another overtime.
In the third and final overtime, the Heat played well but didn’t have enough to pull through with the victory. They fought a long and hard game in the second half of a back-to-back.
They played hard and did not give up, but their turnovers ended up being too costly. Thankfully, turnovers aren’t usually an issue for the Heat.
This problem will be easily solved when Kyle Lowry returns to the court. He has been the leading man for the Heat in terms of moving the ball around and controlling the pace of the game.
You can’t wait until he is back on the floor, as this provides a great example of one of his greatest utilities to his team. You still love the grit, effort, and heart of the club too though.
This will only make them better moving forward.
